The homeopathic consultation


In homeopathy, we have always recognized that the patient must be viewed as a whole and the physical, emotional, mental, medical and family history are all considered before a remedy aimed at gently restoring the system to a long lasting balance can be suggested.  The first consultation is typically about 1 – 1 ½ hours long in order to take a complete history.


Here are some questions I might ask you during this first consultation:


  • What is your current problem? Describe it in detail – when did it start, how did it begin, what was happening in your life around the time when it began? What makes it better and what makes it worse?


  • Have you noticed any other symptoms which accompany this problem? What other medical issues do you have currently? Describe each one in detail.


  • Past medical conditions and treatment history.

  • Your current and past mental and emotional situation -  what makes you happy? What upsets you?


  • Sleep – pattern of sleep at night? Daytime drowsiness?


  • Fears and phobias


  • Food habits – desires and aversions. Regular food and drink habits.


  • Family history


Follow up consultations
These are usually scheduled about 4-6 weeks after the first consultation and are about 20 to 30 minutes long. During this time, we go over any changes in the intensity and/or duration of symptoms.
I will also ask you about any other changes which you might have noticed during the period following the first consultation.

Phone consultations
Phone consultations are the same length and detail as the in-person consultations.

Consultations for acute issues
For acute issues such as fevers, colds, coughs, stomach upsets, pain, injuries and trauma the consultations are about 20 minutes long. A detailed history can be taken if needed when the patient is over the acute phase.  This is especially necessary in cases of repeated illnesses or infections.


Homeopathic Remedies
Remedies can be purchased at integrative pharmacies, or some health food stores. Some chains such as whole foods stock the more common remedies. In addition, there are a number of online retailers from which remedies can be purchased for delivery straight to the house.  

Fees
First consultation - $225.00
Follow up consultation - $50.00 
Acute illnesses and trauma - $90.00

Fees are due at the time of consultation.  Cash, Checks, and PayPal are accepted.
